I offer a multi step process to help people get the job they want. Some people will have already worked through some of the steps and so will start in the middle, or may want to concentrate on just one element. To give some idea of how I work I have given a brief description of the steps and some of the exercises, tools or coaching I can offer.
1. Understanding yourself and your career requirements.2. Assess your strengths.3. Compare strengths and your requirements against possible roles.4. Create a shortlist of roles & detailed job research.5. Transition to new role.1. Understanding yourself and your career requirements. It’s generally recognised that it is better to find a role that fits your personality and values than the other way around. This step is about clarifying who you are and what you need and want from a job.
2. Assess your strengths.Next, together we work on assessing your strengths, your skills, knowledge and experience.
3. Compare strengths and your requirements against possible roles. The third step is to combine the findings from the last two exercises and produce a full listing of possible roles. · Career databases
· Compare strengths and your requirements against possible careers
4. Create a shortlist of roles & detailed research. Now it’s time to refine this list down to something manageable. This is likely to involve further research to understand more about a particular type of job. · Refining the shortlist
5. Transition to new role. Once you have identified the job you want, how do you get there? Some clients will come to career coaching at this point. They are looking to be promoted or have a specific career change in mind. This step includes two elements, making you attractive and tapping into the best channels to get the job you want.
